  1. After presenting the findings on Web 2.0 as a marketing and mass communication tool, I found out more on how different companies uses Web 2.0 to promote their products and spread their brand names through the effects of Web 2.0, such as social-networking by Facebook and Twitter. Some companies like Coca-Cola expand their horizon even further by using the virtual life game called Second Life to set up a virtual vending machine competition for users to create a virtual vending machine for Coca-Cola. Another example is Samsung ,which they have a Facebook page as well as making use of RSS feed as well. Both examples shows that the Web 2.0 is currently being used widely by various companies as a marketing and mass communication tool.

I think that Web 2.0 has revolutionise the way people advertise brands and the way they communicate with each other. It has shown me how the web has changes the world. I feel that Web 2.0 benefits a lot for emerging companies as making use of it is almost free and is easy for people to find on the web as well. Not only that, once the public is attracted, the name of the company will spread like wildfire on the web through the web 2.0 tools used. Hence, I certainly agree to saying that Wen 2.0 has shown its advantages through its ease in using and promoting products for companies.

  2. Web 2.0 is such a useful tool for us to use. It provides us with all the information that we look out for. Web 2.0 is also useful to provide information for companies to publicize information on their companies. Such information are their aims, what they are doing(products) etc. Such Web 2.0 sites used by these companies are Youtube, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and blogs. These companies knew that people nowadays use the cyber world more to look for information. So, these companies decided to promote themselves through the cyber world and it has been proven successful. These companies took advantage of Web 2.0 as a marketing and mass communication tool to it's very best.

I personally feel that Web 2.0 changes the way people live. Even companies depend on them in order for their companies to be well-known and successful. It is essential in our life. It's like a need for everyone because it makes life easier.

  3. Web 2.0 has been a great help to everyone of us. Not only does it provides a platform for companies to advertise their products, it also helps in relief effort after natural disasters or asking for donations online. Websites such as freerice.com allow its users to donate rice through playing educational games. This can allow students and even adults to give donation while learning. The website also has facebook and twitter account to let more users of such social networking site gain knowledge of their existence. Some companies also make use of youtube videos and creating facebook to gain business, promote their brand and some even use web 2.0 to let their customers know when their new stock will arrive. All these goes to show how web 2.0 has been a great marketing and communication tool between companies and their customers.

Generally, I feel that companies has been successful in using web 2.0 to publicise themselves and it is now becoming the trend for all the companies to use web 2.0 in order to let teenagers like us gain knowledge of their companies and products when we are going to web 2.0 sites. Thus, we web 2.0 will not only be popular among teenagers but also companies in the future.

  5. After doing the case studies, i discovered how companies were able to advertise their services
and products. With low costs, easy entry barriers and a large pool of audience to reach out to, the internet and Web 2.0 technology has combined and presented itself as a lucrative and easy platform to companies for advertising. The integration of web 2.0 sites such as Facebook and Youtube means they are not only
able to reach out to the masses, they are also able to get a form of feedback. For example, Coke and Nike both have Facebook pages to
advertise their products and garner feedback from Facebook users at the same time. This way, they are advertising their products and
are also able to determine how the public is reacting to their product, while taking advantage of Web 2.0 website and network effects.

I believe that in the near future, more and more companies may start to shift towards the internet as their primary advertising platform.
With low costs and easy entry barriers, these companies will defintely move towards using Web 2.0 to advertise their products and services.
On the bad side, This will definitely result in an increase in advertistments and may prove disruptive to our usage of the web. In addition, some unethical companies may take advantage of web 2.0 to discreetly install adware to direct users to advertistments, affecting the users computer.
On the bright side, the public would be able to recieve information about the latest products, upgrades or new services, etc, and allowing us to feedback to the companies so that they can make improvements to make the products and
    services better for us.

  6. Through these case studies, I have a much more insight on how a lot of companies have used web 2.0 to publicise themselves, their services and products. How much cost is needed? All you need is just a stable internet access and a targeted group of audience and the rest would be the Web 2.0 on the web. Uses of Facebook and YouTube have a deeper meaning to it. As reaching the mass audience is easy but to get them to support your product and service is hard. Since both Facebook and YouTube have a way of getting feedbacks from their users, the companies would then look at these feedbacks and improves on their way of marketing and products wise. How much does the advertising and feedback costs? Nearly zero dollar that is why more and more companies is going for web 2.0.

Now, with so many companies going for web 2.0, that is also a problem. All these companies are doing may seem to be a good thing for their company but imagine this you go to a site and see more than 20 web advertisements on the same company. What would be the first though? Most probably is that the company is some cheapo company that need the use of such cheap advertisement method to get customers.

All in all, it is a wise move to use the web 2.0 as a mass communication tool but overuse is overkilling your company on the web.

  7. Everyone, young and old, uses Web 2.0, that is an undeniable fact. Most uses socializing platforms like Facebook and Twitter, some has a video blog using YouTube while some has made thousands of dollars from their blog shop. Even companies are using it, for advertising of course. There are also organizations made online to gather supporters or donations, an example would be during the Japan Earthquake.

The point is Web 2.0 definitely has caused a phenomenon in the way we live, we all depend on it. In fact, we depend on it to an extent where we simply cannot imagine life without it.

  8. This week's lesson was really interesting as we got to learn do a case study on the Web 2.0 mash up that businesses use to promote and even sell their products in the virtual world.

when we started the project we actually had a few problems, as we all could not come to a conclusion of what a mash-up site should be, as there are many definitions of mash-up on the internet. However, later we all decided to stick to the Wikipedia's definition of mash-up.

The case study demanded us to research on 5 sites that made used of mash-ups to enhance their business's. We also learnt that there are many websites that use many types of Web 2.0 tools but not all of them are mash-ups. Hence, our choice of website was crucial for the case study.

In conclusion, we saw another way of how Web 2.0 has changed the world. Previously businesses advertised and sold their products in the real world, but now everyone has moved onto the virtual world which seems to be a even better way to earn revenue.

  9. Web 2.0 has created a lot of opportunities for the Internet to be used as an efficient and effective platform for marketing and mass communication. Web 2.0 also makes it easier to deliver information to the public.

Through the various case studies, we learnt the types of Web 2.0 tools used, the advantages as well as the purposes and success level of the Web 2.0 tools used as a marketing and mass communication tool. I learnt more about mash-ups, which are websites that integrate one or more forms of Web 2.0 tools, while investigating more on the examples of mash-ups used by businesses. Not only that, we also learnt how Web 2.0 has played a part in conducting relief efforts after natural disasters and for donations online, by increasing awareness and involvement of the people to contribute to the humanitarian efforts.

The case studies really showed how Web 2.0 has a significant role as a marketing and mass communication tool as well as when there is a need to fight for a cause and increase awareness to get everyone to help with Web 2.0.
Web 2.0 has really benefited all of us, especially in the business and marketing world, to help advertise, deliver information on the new products and ideas to a global audience without difficulty.

  11. After the case study, i learn more about Web2.0 and what are mash-up site.
The tools use on mash-up site are really helpful and people who come up with such idea are really clever. Cause the tools allow one to do so many things in just one site instead of having the need to visit various sites. Such as google map, location, weather of the country and currency converter.
Different site uses different tools, but mostly are tools from google.
Next up we also learn that how web 2.0 help people in needy country. With just a simple game, many people benefited !
In conclusion, Web 2.0 have both its advantage and disadvantages. It change the world, be it good or bad. People now can earn from home, from the virtual world all thanks to Web 2.0

  12. Basically after all this I found that web 2.o had actually helped a lot in promoting and attracting people to view sites hence many big companies has a website and Facebook to promote their companies.Artist have fan page created in Facebook which allow fans to be up to date with what their artist are doing.

With web 2.0, there is no denial that it has greatly improved the market economically however there are always pros and cons to it. Web2.0 maybe a good if we use it in a right way. It all depends on how we human beings use these useful tools create for us.

  13. Web 2.0 has enabled many to spread words and information easily. We can say that it has effectively helped entrepreneurs raise the awareness of their products and attract a large number of buyers.

Also, web 2.0 has allowed easier means of accessing various information. For example, the use of mash ups allows tour agencies to set up their web page with tools such as weather reports of various countries and currency converters to help their customers get the information they need. As compared to companies who do not use these tools, they are at an advantage of gaining more customers through online booking, which most people do these days.

Web 2.0 has made life easier these days, with many tools incorporated as technology advances. However, it has allowed crimes such as cyber defamation and users are also risked getting stalked with too much information of themselves they provide online.

  14. The case studies have shown me just how big companies are actually making use of Web 2.0 tools to advertise their products. Some examples of the Web 2.0 tools that they make use of is the commonly used social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. They not only can advertise in text and image form, but also in audio and video.

One example is the popular SM Entertainment in South Korea, they create a fan page on Facebook to share mostly photos and information with their fans, they also have a YouTube Channel where they upload their latest music videos and" behind the scenes videos" while at the same time, they have their main website to serve as a "headquarters" to all the other Web 2.0 sites.

With the use of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and many other social networking sites, many companies are able to advertise in a whole new different way whereby it's cheaper and more effective. Web 2.0 has become to widespread and it is a loss for a company not to advertise on this platform.

I personally feel that Web 2.0 is the new way of live and more of our time will be spent on the web in the future. Looking at the rate of people get access to the internet, it is possible everything will be done online. Web 2.0 is like a whole new Revolution and we are just the start of this Revolution. The outcome of this, whether good or bad is all up to us as human to control.
